Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my garden, home, and travel! Enjoy.

The Joy of a Vegetable Garden

The Joy of a Vegetable Garden

My vegetable garden is my happy place. It feels like years ago that we built our Split-Rail Vegetable Garden Fence but in reality, that was just a few months ago at the beginning of the pandemic. I visit it multiple times a day and we have enjoyed all of our crops: tomatoes, green beans, kale, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, cantaloupes and strawberries. We even have a few watermelons on the way!

After much thought, I decided to splurge on the Cafe 3-piece Folding Table Dining Set from Ballard Designs in Spa blue. I scoured Facebook Marketplace for a similar style set at a lower cost but couldn’t find anything. I have already enjoyed many coffees and cocktails at this table and know I will take it wherever I go in life! I’m very happy with the purchase.

I can’t share publicly how many Amaretto Sour’s I’ve consumed during quarantine!

I snapped the photo below during a 6am visit to the vegetable garden one weekend morning. I often wake up before Alex (I can’t sleep in like he can!) so I spend some time in the garden until he joins me.

Alex and I built the tall structure in the second bed to support our cantaloupe and watermelon plants which we are growing vertically to save space. This photo was early in the season before our beds really took off!

We didn’t amend our soil before planting vegetables. Whoops! I think it may have delayed some of the growth of our veggies. Next year we will mix in some organic compost. We also had a friend suggest adding in a bit of sand to help with drainage. All in all, I am so pleased with our new garden and the progress we have made this year.
